Rocky Mountain elk are one of the biggest mammals in Colorado. Bulls (males) can weigh 700 pounds and have antlers with a spread of up to five feet. In September and early October the rut, or mating season, takes place. Bulls will make their way down to the large herds of cows (females) and their calves (young).
"Ignoring the Call"
This particular bull had done everything that bulls do to impress a lady. He had grown the biggest rack out there, peed in a mudhole and then "bathed" in it, and bugled his heart out. And still she ignored him, LOL.
